External Chat

External Chat is akin to a Partnership platform that is the hub of cross-DAO communication. The external Chat allows DAO's to connect, and have a single source of truth for Partnerships and Collaborations across the ecosystem, while maintaining the highest level of privacy and security through private key encryption. More information on Message encryption can be seen in the Chat Technical Architecture sub-section.

One of the biggest issues in DAO communication is the prevalence of misrepresentation. Validating honest outreach is often difficult and results in a re-occuring security concern for DAO contributors. Motherboards external chat sets the groundwork for a Token Curated Registry (TCR) where DAO contributors are able to ensure that a message has indeed originated from a validated DAO. The introduction of our TCR and more information of the implementation schedule will be available closer to our V1 launch.

The External Chat houses the following features:

Channels

  • View all external DAO-to-DAO channels the user currently belongs to

  • View all messages of the selected external DAO-to-DAO channel

  • View all members of the selected external DAO-to-DAO channel

  • Add a member to the selected external DAO-to-DAO channel

    • Note that upon DAO-to-DAO channel creation only those roles which have been whitelisted in the Settings by your DAO Admins will be added.

    • Upon channel creation internal DAO members can be further added or removed from the shared channel.

Messages

  • Create a new direct message with external DAO contributors

  • View private messages from external DAO contributors

Threads

  • Create threads for both direct and channels messages

  • Reply to a selected thread

  • View all the threads created or tagged in
